Poppet

"To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. The more helpless the creature, the more that it is entitled to protection by man from the cruelty of man." - Mohandas Gandhi

Birthdate: 19 July 2013   Arrival date: 30th August 2013

During a very stormy late winters night, a little Merino lamb was separated from her Mum and her flock.  Finding her wandering alone with no sign of her flock nearby, a passer-by bundled her up and brought her to an all-hours vet clinic, who took her to the RSPCA the next day.

Little Oak was contacted to see whether we could offer this lost little soul refuge.

This gorgeous baby, whom we've named Poppet, was around 6 weeks old on arrival.  In those six weeks, she had already been through quite a lot, her tail had been docked, she had notches cut from one of her beautiful ears, and on top of all of that, she had lost the centre of her universe, her Mama.

In spite of this, luck hadn't run out for this little lamb. Now Poppet, who would have been used for her wool for several years before being sent to slaughter, is valued for the unique being she is, not merely the wool she grows. She is loved, nurtured and respected, and will grow old amongst her friends

Love lambs like Poppet by avoiding wool products, and by not eating them.
